Honoring the "Cybersecurity Education Curricula" Project at the International Day of Education

A Testament to Leadership in Cyber Awareness and Digital Safety
Reaffirming its pioneering role in promoting cybersecurity awareness and strengthening digital safety, the National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has been honored for its "Cybersecurity Education Curricula" project during the International Day of Education celebrations. This recognition highlights the agency’s continuous efforts to develop high-quality educational programs that empower future generations with the necessary knowledge and tools for a safe and efficient digital experience.
Recognition at an Event Organized by Qatar Foundation
The honor was awarded during a special event organized by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development under the theme "Education is Everyone’s Responsibility." The event was attended by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, and Sheikha Nouf Al Thani, Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives for Pre-University Education at Qatar Foundation.
The "Cybersecurity Education Curricula" project was chosen as one of ten impactful educational innovations as part of the "Spotlight on Qatar" competition, a joint initiative by Qatar Foundation and the international education organization HundrED. The selection recognizes the project’s key role in enhancing pre-university education globally.
Project Achievements and Impact
The "Cybersecurity Education Curricula" project aims to equip school students with advanced cybersecurity awareness content, improving their ability to navigate the internet and modern technologies securely while boosting their digital safety skills. Since its launch, the project has made a far-reaching impact, covering 214 public schools, 178 private schools, 39 community schools, and 2 special needs schools, reaching more than 280,000 students. With the start of the 2024-2025 academic year, the project has been further expanded to reach even more schools.
National Recognition and a Drive for Further Achievements
On this occasion, Ms. Dalal Al-Aqeedi, Director of the National Cyber Excellence Department at NCSA, stated that this recognition reflects both national and international appreciation of the agency’s efforts in enhancing cybersecurity awareness at the community level. She emphasized the importance of continuing the development of educational initiatives that contribute to a safer digital society, further solidifying Qatar’s position as a leading regional hub in cybersecurity.
Al-Aqeedi also highlighted that the project serves as a model for increasing student awareness of cybersecurity concepts through innovative educational approaches. This aligns with NCSA’s strategy to strengthen cybersecurity both locally and regionally while working toward achieving top global cybersecurity benchmarks.
Active Participation in the International Day of Education
In addition to the honor, the National Cyber Security Agency, represented by the National Cyber Security Academy, took part in a series of interactive sessions discussing key topics on the role of all stakeholders in advancing education—from families and schools to academic institutions, media, and civil society.
It is worth mentioning that the International Day of Education is celebrated annually on January 24 to emphasize that education is a fundamental human right and a shared responsibility. The recognition of the "Cybersecurity Education Curricula" project underscores the NCSA’s commitment to strengthening digital culture, promoting cybersecurity awareness, and contributing to the creation of a safe and sustainable educational environment.
