With the participation of over 200 teachers, the National Cyber Security Academy organised an interactive meeting on the Cybersecurity Education Curriculum Project
As part of National Cyber Security Academy efforts to boost the success of the "Cybersecurity Education Curriculum Project" and improve IT teachers' capacity to engage with the project's awareness content, the National Cyber Security Academy held an interactive meeting with IT teachers at Al-Wadi Hotel, Mushayrib, on Sunday, 6 October 2024. Over 200 teachers attended the event.
The meeting aimed to introduce teachers to the project, outline their responsibilities, and explain their role in delivering the awareness content to students, contributing to the project's positive expected outcomes.
Mrs. Dalal Al-Aqeedi, Director of the National Cybersecurity Excellence Department at the National Cyber Security Agency, stated that the project had achieved positive results and had greatly enhanced students' awareness of cybersecurity and digital safety. To further improve these outcomes, this meeting was organised at the start of the 2024/2025 academic year.
The meeting was also designed to equip teachers with the necessary skills to effectively manage the project and utilise its learning resources.
Al-Aqeedi stressed that teachers play a vital role in the success of the project, as they are the main link between the agency and the students. Therefore, training and preparing them to effectively engage with the curriculum is crucial to maintaining the project's success.
Al-Aqidi also stated that the National Cyber Security Agency, recognising the crucial role of teachers in the project's success, issued a comprehensive guide. This guide outlines the learning resources, explains how to interact with both the content and students, details the approach for delivering the material, and provides guidance on evaluating students' understanding and progress in the project.
It is important to highlight that the curriculum project addresses a variety of topics in cybersecurity and digital safety. The content is designed for different educational levels, ensuring it corresponds to the understanding appropriate for each age group.
It is worth mentioning that the project previously targeted 214 government schools, 178 private schools, 39 community schools, as well as two schools for students with special needs. The number of students participating in the project has exceeded 140,000.
At the start of this academic year, the project will be expanded to more schools, which will have a positive impact on students' understanding of cybersecurity and digital safety concepts.
